But of Course,

It’s all Ronald Reagan’s fault. Notice the scare quote around “liberal bias”, and then the complete vilification of Reagan. Yeah, #3519 - the public has lost its trust in you purely because RR was an asshole. The rage runs deep in this one, Obi Wan - yet he undoubtedly believes himself to be a completely unbiased observer. And therein, Peanut, lies the problem.
Angry Journalist #3519:I am angry that: When the media was “Biased” towards the left, (The 1970’s and 80’s) newspapers sold well and were considered a reliable source of information. Then Reagan came along and started off this bullshit about “Liberal bias.” The only reason why the Republicans latched onto that was because the media uncovered their boy Nixon committing high crimes and misdeamenors. I am angry that the fucking Republicans are running around talking about Liberal bias in the media after Richard Nixon. I am livid at the fact that we are listening to the Conservatives, who don’t know shit and don’t want to know shit, about how we should be doing our jobs. I am outright pissed off that a racist pissant like Reagan, who tried to Veto America declaring sanctions on Apartheid South Africa, whose economy saw America go from being a net creditor to being a net debtor, who got into power by bashing Carter over the Iranian hostage crisis, and then promptly sold the Iranian hostage TAKERS guns, is seen as a great president because of all of this “Liberal media bias.”
Wouldn’t recognize liberal media bias if it bit him in the ass, but apparently believes there is now “conservative media bias”. Oooooh, aren’t scare quotes “scarey”?

Spot the missing word. Can you say Democrat? I knew you could.
On a related note - one of the 3 people who have seen this blog other than myself got here via this Google search. Why would anyone need to Google for Spitzer’s party affiliation if the press was doing its job?

When you’re getting your butt kicked, offer a truce and regroup.
My favorite bits:
Consequently, I intend to withdraw my complaint with the Alberta HRC against Levant’s decision to publish the offensive and hateful drawings. I believe his decision was irresponsible and was intended to cause strife, but I now appreciate that it may not fall outside the limits of free speech.
Notice the language. Not “I have withdrawn” but “I intend to withdraw”. Two very, very different things.
Then there’s this:
The history of anti-Semitism in Alberta is non-trivial, and it wasn’t from newcomers like me, who abhor it. It is distasteful and dishonest for Levant to refer to me as an “anti-Semitic jihadi.” That extremist rhetoric is incredibly divisive and polarizing in our pluralistic Canadian society.
So I’m obviously pretty mainstream and heavily into interfaith dialogue. That leads me to an offer to Ezra Levant.
Note to Mr. Soharwardy - you don’t get to define whether or not you are “pretty mainstream”. People who observe your actions and hear your words get to decide if that description applies to you. You have only decided to seek the mantle of centrist now that you are taking a beating in the court of public opinion. The same court, incidentally, that gets to judge whether or not your ideas are “mainstream”. And we all know that you wouldn’t be offering a truce now if not for the overwhelming rejection of your actions by those truly in the mainstream of Canadian culture and tradition. In Texas, the idiom “all Hat and no Cattle” would apply.
If you’re not familiar with the target of Mr. Soharwardy’s magnanimous gesture of reconciliation, then visit Ezra Levant’s blog.
UPDATE:
Ezra has posted his response to Mr. Soharwardy.

Why does a bag of ice cost $2.69 in Canada, while a larger bag of ice (10 pounds vs 2Kg) only cost $1.29 in Baton Rouge? And before you start making Canadian currency jokes, the CDN$ is currently as strong as the US$, thank you very much.
